Abstract

The author provides a counterpoint between a text based on scientific assumptions -"From the forest to town: Progress?", by Juan Pablo Orrego- that makes a diagnosis and a survey of the biotic system, particularly the forest, and that calls for responsibility and action before the predatory capitalist logic, as well as criticizing an anthropocentric Western view; and the text, ‘On trees and mothers?, of the Chilean philosopher Patricio Marchant, of philosophical interpretation and poetic claim, that highlights the burning as an unavoidable of the original foundation in the originary loss of the foundation. The author does not present a concluding third part, leaving this as an emergence of the two readings.
