Overcoming Eurocentrism. Enrichment of systemic and endogenous knowledge on our tropical context

Abstract

This article -extension of a paper by the authors- traces the current debate over the effects of Eurocentrism in the development and simultaneous widening of the gap between the north and south, and the responsibility of scientists to undertake the study and analysis of the causes of what is happening in the societies and territories if the south. It questions the attitude of giving universal validity to scientific knowledge originated in Europe and still more to the innovations or products that come from there. Then it postulates the need to build endogenous paradigms taking into consideration the particularities of a country both Amazonian as Andean in all its complexity, which requires a creative search. Finally postulates the need for a science policy that will arise from a participative university.
