Abstract
This article examines the role of schools in Chile in the Andean community and local demands for a permanent educational system. Within this context, there is a discussion around the state, nation building and using the school as a disciplinary tool of society. It also analyzes the historical experience of the school in southern Peru as part of a process that precedes the establishment of the Chilean national educational model, relieving the political practice that communities themselves take on several requests by the presence of teachers and of educational establishments in the Andean cordillera.
