Abstract
This research focuses on the study of the transformations in the landscape of the town of Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, because of the incorporation of tourism in the daily lives of its inhabitants. As objects, customs and language coming from tourism are incorporated into the customs, traditions, social relationships and lifestyles of the population,the live spaces –at work, neighborhood, household and leisure-acquire nontraditional physical characteristics and exclusionary forms of exploitation that help shape and strengthen landscapes functional to touristic capital. Private property and the land market, policies for the conservation of natural resources, corporate relocation, tourism image and migratory waves are factors that have led to the reorganization of the live spaces and allong with that, the setting various landscape resorts along the coast.
