Abstract

The present article goes critically through the Venezuelan situation starting from the current link of the indigenous and a so called socialist State.  Nevertheless, the indigenous/socialist conceptual pair can be examined through the light of preceding social-historical data that speak of realities quite different to the rhetorical “chavistas” sayings.  On the other hand, government actions with respect to petroleum show how distant the indigenous issuesare  in the concerns of the State.  The indigenous rights still remain behind the curtains of politics, to which is added governmental indifference to ecological problems.
